In July 2011, our congregation bid a fond farewell to Pastor Rob Licht when he moved to Scotland Neck United Methodist Church, and we welcomed our new minister, Reverend William Arthur Warren, Jr., into the pulpit. Rev. Warren has been serving United Methodist churches for 34 years. He most recently completed his ministry at Murfreesboro United Methodist Church in the Elizabeth City District following appointments in Goldsboro, Sanford, Rocky Mount, Durham, and Fayetteville Districts. Arthur enjoys sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and participating in the Conference and Jurisdiction Historical Societies and Commissions on Archives and History. He is currently serving as president of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Historical Society and is a volunteer chaplain with the N. C. State Highway Patrol. Arthur has participated in mission trips within the Conference, South Carolina and Mississippi.
He was born in Sampson County and attended Beulah United Methodist Church near Salemburg, NC. He enjoyed working on the family farm. After graduating from U. N. C. Wilmington in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, he returned to his home to farm and began serving as a part-time local pastor at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church in 1977. Afterwards, he entered Duke Divinity School and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1985.
Arthur and his wife, Becky, have three adult daughters-- Maria, husband, Trevor Setzer; Martha, husband, Ashley Smith, and Noelle Warren. The Warrens have two grandchildren, Brayden Smith and Olivia Setzer. Arthur loves people and looks forward to meeting his new congregation at Littleton United Methodist Church.
