Jesus said "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation."
Under the leadership of our pastor , who has a passion for travel and mission work, Littleton United Methodist Church reaches out to the world with love. El Salvador and Sri Lanka are two special places to our pastor and our congregation.
El Salvador:
Each August, Pastor David leads a group to El Salvador. While there, they team up with other American churches and local Salvadoran volunteers to build houses with Habitat for Humanity. For more information about these trips, you can read David's 2006 Trip Journal or view some photos .
Sri Lanka:
In March of 2004, Pastor David led a medical mission team from Littleton United Methodist Church to Sri Lanka. There they traveled with Reverand Ranjan Fernando of the United Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka, and provided free medical clinics for the very poor people of Sri Lanka. In December 2004, Pastor David learned that the Moratuwa Beach slum community, one of the sites where the LUMC mission team had conducted a medical clinic, was one of the many communities destroyed by the Indian Ocean tsunamis. Like the rest of the world, David and the LUMC congregation were shocked and saddened by the loss of lives and homes.
On January 2nd 2005, a community prayer service was held at our church. Then our pastor and congregation began a fund-raising campaign to help the residents of Sri Lanka rebuild their lives. Our generous community helped us raise over $20,000. These funds were used to purchase emergency supplies and fishing boats. Each boat that was purchased put six men back to work, allowing them to support their families once again.
In Feb 2005 David and his wife, Binky, traveled to Sri Lanka bringing with them much needed supplies. View David's tsunami trip journal and some photos ...
